The falling of the Berlin Wall resulted a huge amount of construction activities, which enriched the city by plenty of buildings built by some of the worlds most famous contemporary Architects. It would not be wrong to call Berlin an Open Air Museum of Architecture.

Here we find buildings from different time periods:

  • Baroque to Bauhaus
  • Classic to Avantgarde
  • Roccoco to Deconstructivism
  • Stalinist- and
  • Nazi architecture

In 2008 the Berlin Modernism Housing Estates, built between 1910 – 1933 got listed as part of UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE.

Since 1979 the Pritzker Prize for architecture was awarded already to 31 architects worldwide. In Berlin you find buildings not only built by 17 of those famous prize winners, but also by many others. During this tour the focus will be on the variety of architecture related to the history of the city.
