WORLD WAR 2 for sure is one of the main themes our visitors choose to get information about. Very soon after end of WW2 the world stepped into the COLD WAR with one of it´s most dangerous historical events, the BERLIN BLOCKADE from June 1948 until May 1949.
It was an attempt by the Soviets to force the Western Allies out of Berlin. The western half of the city then kept being supplied by the BERLIN AIRLIFT. In 1961 the East German Government decided to stop the exodus of already millions of East Germans having escaped from the Communist Regime through West-Berlin by building the BERLIN WALL.

At the end of 1989 a dream came true: the BERLIN WALL collapsed.  One year later, in October of 1990 the contract of the Reunification of Germany was signed, and in 1991 Berlin became the Capital of Germany again. Since 1999 Berlin is again the seat of the Government of Germany and  REICHSTAG, a building from 1894 became the House of the German Parliament again.
